Google Meet Auto Record Chrome extension is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or user data.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
Google account information or credentials
Meeting content, recordings, or transcripts
Participant information or meeting details
Browsing history or activity outside Google Meet
Any data that could identify you or your meetings

What the Extension Does

This extension provides a user interface to help Google Meet hosts control the built-in recording feature. It:

Detects when you are the host of a Google Meet session
Provides buttons to interact with Google Meet’s native recording controls
Stores your preference settings locally on your device only

Data Storage

The extension uses Chrome’s local storage API to save your preferences, including:

Auto-start recording preference (enabled/disabled)
Caption preference (on/off)
Transcript preference (on/off)

Important: This data is stored locally on your device only and never leaves your computer. It is not transmitted to any servers, databases, or third parties.

Permissions Explained

The extension requires certain permissions to function:

Host Permission (meet.google.com): Needed to interact with Google Meet’s interface elements (buttons, status indicators) to control recording on your behalf
activeTab: Allows the extension popup to interact with the current Meet tab when you click the extension icon
tabs: Enables detection of when a Google Meet tab is active
storage: Saves your preference settings locally on your device

These permissions are used solely for the extension’s core functionality and not for data collection.

Third-Party Services

This extension does not:

Use any third-party analytics or tracking services
Connect to any external servers or APIs
Require authentication or login
Share data with any third parties

Google Meet Integration

This extension works with Google Meet’s existing recording feature and does not:

Bypass Google Meet’s security or permissions
Access meeting content independently
Record or store meetings itself
Modify Google’s recording notification system

Children’s Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. No personal information is collected from any users.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
